In Teams, meeting organizers can end a meeting for all participants. With this capability, educators can ensure that students don\’t stay in a meeting unsupervised after a class is finished.
Some instruction needs larger audiences and additional production capabilities. Teams supports these sessions using Microsoft Teams live events. Live Events can be used for scenarios, such as district or university-wide updates, leadership addresses, and for instruction to large classes or student groups, or extend to your community.

Schoology users with Office accounts can create Teams meetings from within Schoology for free. Once the Teams app has been installed, head over to any course and create a meeting to host a virtual class. Now that the meeting link has been created, copy the link and insert it into calendar invites, announcements, and other communications to students and faculty.

Early Access Class Teams allows educators access to their class teams before their students can view it and begin participating.
This allows educators time to set up, add files, and get organized before granting access to their students. When they are ready for students to access the team, they can easily activate their class. As an admin, you also have additional control and capabilities around creating and setting up Early Access Class Teams.
To create your own early access teams using Graph API, you\’ll need to create a class and create the team from a group. In the team resource type , we added a new property, isMembershipLimitedToOwners , to determine whether a class is activated. If the team is activated, it will return a value of false. If the team hasn\’t been activated by the team owner, it will return a value of true. Note that after a team is activated, it can\’t be reversed.
Staff type teams are designed for educational institute administrators and staff to easily share information and work together on institute-wide initiatives, including making announcements, settings up meetings, sharing content, and bringing in external apps, like Planner for task tracking.

Live Events can be used for scenarios, such as district or university-wide updates, leadership addresses, and for instruction to large classes or student groups, or extend to your community.

If the -SetPhotoEnabled setting is turned off, users can\’t add, change, or remove their profile picture. To prevent students or staff from changing or removing their profile picture, turn off this setting in the Outlook on the web mailbox policy that\’s assigned to them. For example, if a student uploads a profile picture that\’s approved by your educational institute\’s IT or HR department, no action is needed.
However, if a student uploads a picture that\’s inappropriate, change the picture according to your educational institute\’s internal policies.

No one wants to stick around at the end of training to hear closing remarks…they have already mentally checked out. Soliciting feedback via an online survey is essential for improving your training. Make sure you incentivize participants to take the survey or you will get low participation.
Use a random number generator to pick the winner and email them an Amazon gift card. After your training is over, give students a day or two before completely deleting the Team that was set up. During the workshop they were all asked to complete a template that everyone was able to collaborate on — attached at the end of this post. The main session, continued to run empty with just the two producers and a couple of other presenters , while they joined the workshop Teams meetings.
Workshop facilitators led the discussions and captured info into the template. Thirty mins later everyone re-joined the main Teams live event where Steve, Director of HR and OD led the feedback from the workshop facilitators and discussion. We prepared the order that they would feedback in beforehand so that everyone was clear what was going to happen when. The main producer used the slide deck to produce the event, cutting between slides and presenters etc as appropriate — it was important we had some structure to the event.
It all went really well. Staff were really engaged and we got some great feedback. It was a bold idea to run the session as a virtual session with so much packed into it. But it worked!!

Microsoft Teams has a Wiki feature that allows users to draft and share notes and collaborate with teammates. While most folks use the Wiki for work projects, you can also use this function to create a fictional country as a team building exercise.
Wiki Kingdom Founders is an ongoing game where teammates expand an imaginary world by adding or editing Wiki pages. To start, create a name for the country, make a basic page, and invite your teammates. Then, encourage team members to add details like maps, laws, history, and customs. Participants propose new changes, and other players vote on which ones to keep. The Praise add-on enables users to send digital kudos to colleagues, making games of compliment tag easy and extra fun.
To kick off a game of compliment tag, first set a time-frame, such as a week, and announce the game to the team. When participants receive a piece of praise, they must reciprocate by sending a genuine compliment to another teammate.
The fun part about playing this game in Microsoft Teams is that you can send Praise to individuals or groups, maximizing the impact.
However, all compliments must be sincere. At the end of the game, tally up the total number of Praise badges. While the folks who send and receive the most compliments get special honors, everybody who participates wins! Snap Camera integrates with Microsoft Teams, meaning you can use filters to make meetings more fun.
Typical Snap Camera filters include flower crowns, dog ears, cat hats, floating pizza slices, as well as lenses that transform users into potatoes or tigers. Our team had been hosting monthly in-person Dashboard in a Day Power BI training sessions , since we first partnered with Microsoft back in We had perfected the craft of in-person training to become a rinse and repeat process, while also delighting our attendees.
Then, a global pandemic came along and we seriously thought: What the hell are we going to do now? Moving to a virtual training format meant constructing both a new process and a new student experience. We were concerned that online training platforms were wrought with hiccups and difficulties that undermined the value of these classes.
But, guess what? It actually worked out. After delivering several online trainings on Microsoft Teams with impeccable success, we thought it was time to share our winning recipe. Now is the time to leverage these tools and step up your game to communicate effectively.
Lots of students is awesome, right? It is. Just keep in mind that more students means you need more support. Make sure to keep a list of requested attendees, those that have confirmed, and those that have not—we like to use Excel to keep track of everything, but do your thing.
Even with most teams working remotely, everyone has a lot going on while juggling work life and home life. Consistent reminders and detailed instructions will improve the student experience before your training even happens. Use a drip email campaign to automate essential training day information, in addition to nudging attendees to make sure they are actually serious about attending your training. Decide on your email cadence: 10 days before, 7 days before, 4 days before, etc.

Hi Microsoft Community, I have a question about using Teams to run a series of Virtual Training Sessions with Clients who are external to our organisation. To be clear about the situation, I\’ll describe the Use Case. Part of our main program includes 7 x 2. These Virtual Meetings often require Breakout Rooms for attendees to participate in activities with fellow participants eg 3 Breakout Rooms of 4 participants each.
These are all provided outside the meeting. So it\’s not TRULY a Team – more of a Program Cohort – but we\’re exploring Teams for these sessions because many of these medium sized clients use Teams, are used to it for virtual meetings and want us to use it for training sessions.
The above is time consuming, especially if we have to go into 3 or 4 rooms and admit them each time What would the community suggest. How would you manage it, in the simplest way for us and the participant users.

Regarding the attendee issue and given how many cohorts you have, I would suggest setting up a channel for each cohort, and inviting the attendees to it.
You can make the channels private so other cohorts cannot see it, although you do lose access to some apps. Research public vs private channels. The added benefit of this model is that when the co-hort is finished you can just delete the channel, but also ensure you delete the members from the main community as well.
If you have the Community and invite everyone to that then have the channels, in the main community you can also make use of \”tags\” to communicate with particular groups which can also save time. This new capability allows you to quickly enable remote learning for your students and faculty by bringing the power of Teams directly into your LMS. Canvas users with Office accounts can create Teams meetings from within Canvas for free.
Once the integration is enabled, educators can create an audio or video meeting from Canvas. Now the meeting link will appear for students in Assignments, Discussions, or wherever else in Canvas you can create a meeting. Learn more about the Canvas integration here.
