So this is herding into the following scenario: we all hold our breath when a patch comes out, hoping our machines work the next day. Millions of seats in Enterprise can go down multiple times per year, now. Instead of doing our normal jobs, we all have to become IT people, or spend oodles more time on IT than we had to do, before.

Following pressure from businesses Microsoft has changed Windows 10 to allow firms to turn off all data collection.

Posted 12 November – AM We\’ll keep your thread to discuss the fact that Entreprises can toggle off the Telemetry, while mine is mostly about the \”November Update\” for Windows Which means, things are not rosy.

Edited by brainout, 13 November – AM.

With data breaches and malware infections on the rise, taking your data privacy seriously is now more essential than ever. As part of its efforts to help troubleshoot the Windows 10 user experience, Microsoft logs data about the apps and features you use, your system information, your system settings, and more.

Telemetry, as the practice is called, is how Microsoft does this. Along with your general privacy settings, such as the data Windows collects to help serve advertisements or filter adult content, Microsoft also collects location data, information on your Windows usage, and other under-the-hood diagnostic information to help monitor and troubleshoot Windows across millions of PCs.

You can see the benefit for Microsoft, but there are some serious privacy concerns to be considered for the standard Windows user here. The choice is yours: you can leave telemetry enabled, and allow Microsoft to collect various bits of information about you, your location, and your activities.

Alternatively, you can set telemetry to minimal settings or disable it entirely to cut Microsoft off from its data collection activities and put you back in control.

If you want to limit your telemetry data sharing, you can do so from the Windows Settings menu. Under the Diagnostic and usage data section, you can change the various data collection levels. At the moment, these include options for basic data collection , which limits the information sent to Microsoft to only include system settings, hardware, and whether or not your system is working correctly.

Alternatively, you could choose full data collection , which sends all diagnostic data, including data on the websites you visit, apps and features you use, device health, and additional error data for troubleshooting. In a future release of Windows 10, these settings will be changed to required diagnostic data to replace basic data collection and optional diagnostic data to replace full data collection.

The settings should remain the same, but with replaced setting names. There are two ways to do this. You can change your telemetry settings using the Group Policy Editor or by modifying the Windows Registry using the Windows Registry editor. If you want to completely disable telemetry in Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise or Education, you can also use the Windows Registry Editor to do this. You can close the Registry Editor at this point.

There are no risks to disabling telemetry, however, so if you prefer to limit the data being shared, you should disable it. You should first check to see if your data has been compromised online and, if it has, change your passwords immediately.

Windows 10 enterprise turn off telemetry free.Anyone think about using Windows 10 Enterprise edition to disable telemetry?

Only IT can shop there, and they don\’t need an \’app store\’ for that. The removal of telemetry is important. So too, the ability to completely deny updates when desired, in advance. But that isn\’t quite the offer. So that\’s why, not rosy.

No one wants MSFT to fail. But they better start changing course. This from the Aug article of ARS. Posted 13 November – PM. Not sure that covers all the forms of telemetry blocking Enterprise needs. It won\’t work on Pro or Home, the \’0\’ is disregarded. Not, four months. This will kill Win10 adoption. So it doesn\’t matter if they can turn off telemetry. The OS has effectively become one with short support. Business can\’t live with that, so won\’t migrate. Win7 will remain, and between now and , some other OS has to come along or MSFT has to have all its top brass replaced.

But the OS quality doesn\’t look too good either, given the many borks in the installers and updates. Windows 10 now comes with the telemetry feature enabled by default which collects all sorts of user activity and sends it to Microsoft. Unfortunately, Microsoft has provided no way to disable it completely using the Settings app for Home and Pro editions of Windows Only Enterprise users can turn it off. Here is a solution for editions other than Enterprise to disable Telemetry and Data Collection in Windows Before we start, I definitely should mention one fact.

Please find time to read the following article: Stop Windows 10 spying on you using just Windows Firewall. This might be interesting and useful for you. You can combine all mentioned tricks below with the Firewall tip.

As you use Windows 10, Microsoft will collect usage information. There you can set the options \”Diagnostic and usage data\” to one of the following options, as described by Microsoft:. The usage data monitoring setting can be set to Full out of the box, which is not acceptable for many users. Those users might want to turn off the data collection in Windows This can be done with a Registry tweak.

Tip: You can access any desired Registry key with one click. If you do not have such a Registry key, then just create it. Now, you need to disable a couple of Windows services. In the services list, disable the following services:. You will need to disable. You need to restart Windows 10 for changes to take effect. This should prevent Windows 10 from spying on you. If you have a more elegant solution for this or any questions, feel free to write a comment.

Microsoft uses telemetry to collect data from users with a goal to improve user experience with future updates. The telemetry system has so far been accepted as a legitimate way of enhancing the Windows experience.

However, it does collect data. If you\’re uncomfortable with any type of data collection, disabling telemetry isn\’t going to affect your experience in any way. You\’ll continue to receive updates like usual. Of course, in some cases, disabling telemetry isn\’t an option.

For instance, if you\’re on Windows 10 or 11 Home Edition, you can still disable the collection of optional data which means Microsoft will only collect the data it needs to keep the operating system ticking over. It\’s important to keep your data private in this new digital age, but it\’s hard to do so when even our operating systems are beaming information back home.
